New Delhi [India], May 18 (ANI): Strongly refuting Assam Chief Minister's "absurd" allegation that he visited Pakistan on the invitation of ISI, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi on Sunday called Himanta Biswa Sarma "troll" and said the script followed by the BJP leader is "worse than a B-grade film."
Earlier, Sarma alleged that the Jorhat MP had visited Pakistan on an invitation from its spy agency ISI.
Responding to the CM's remarks, Gogoi in a series of post on X, said, "I am worried about the health of the Chief Minister of Assam. For some reason best known to him, I have been on his radar since my entry into Assam. He has made many baseless remarks about me in the past 13 years. The most recent one borders on insanity and the absurd,"
Taking a sharp dig at Sarma, the Congress leader further said, "It is often said that when there is something bothering at home, it reflects in the mental state of the person. We will ensure that after 2026 he gets to have some rest."
"The script that the Chief Minister is following is worse than a B-grade film. To cover up one lie, a person has to say countless lies. That is exactly what the Chief Minister is doing," Gogoi said in another post.
He challenged Sarma to present evidence to support his claims, saying, "A Chief Minister should not be a troll. If he has any facts supporting his most recent allegation, he should put them in the public domain. The farce cannot be hidden for too long."
Minutes later, Assam CM again backed his claims in a post on X, "I reiterate, with full authority and responsibility as the Chief Minister of Assam, that Shri Gaurab Gogoi, Member of Parliament from Assam, visited Pakistan at the invitation of the Ministry of Interior of the Government of Pakistan. He spent several days there. We are enquiring further into the details surrounding this visit and related associations."
Earlier in the day, Sarma has said, "Gaurav Gogoi had gone to Pakistan in invitation of ISI. For the first time, I want to say that he went to Pakistan at the invitation of ISI. We have that document. He went there to receive training."
"Gaurav Gogoi went there after receiving the letter from the Pakistan Home Department. He went there following the invitation of the Pakistan government. Not External Affairs, Cultural Ministry, he went there at the invitation of the Pakistan Home Department. It is a serious matter. After this, more considerable action will be taken..."
In past as well, Sarma has labelled similar allegations on Gaurav Gogoi of having Pakistan links. However, Gogoi had vehemently dismissed all the allegations against him. (ANI)
