Mumbai: State-run Bharat Petroleum Corporation and Reliance BP Mobility ( RBML) have agreed to collaborate in the city gas distribution (CGD) and compressed natural gas (CNG) sales segments.
RBML is an equal joint venture between UK's BP Plc and Reliance Industries in the mobility segment.
"It is crucial that the end customer receives our molecule, aligning with the broader vision of promoting a gas-based economy," said Rahul Tandon, business head for gas at BPCL. "This partnership will enhance our progress towards this national objective."
In a press statement, the companies said their collaboration will advance access to cleaner and more affordable fuel alternatives throughout India.
"It supports the government of India's ambition to raise the share of natural gas in the nation's energy mix from the current 6% to 15% by 2030 - highlighting the joint dedication of both organisations to promote sustainable mobility and the adoption of cleaner energy," the companies said.
RBML CEO Akshay Wadhwa said: "RBML outlets attract higher footfall, which will drive increased CNG sales in the area, thereby contributing to the overall goals of India's gas-based economy."
