Darts star accused of 'fixing' match as he's hit with bizarre demand for money

Jeff Smith had a comical response to an online troll who accused him of match fixing and demanded compensation. The Canadian darts player lost to Jamie Owens at the MODUS Super Series last week.

Adding fuel to the fire, one audacious individual reached out to Smith via Instagram with a peculiar demand. The person alleged that Smith had cost him money - presumably due to a failed bet - while accusing him of rigging games. In a snapshot of the conversation shared by Smith, a message from the darts star read: "I don't fix games. And clearly you don't understand the game."

The account retorted: "If you have a little honour give me the money back," to which Smith responded with a touch of sarcasm: "How much do I owe you I'll send it right over."

However, the user then appeared to backtrack on its demands. They wrote: "Nah you don't owe me something," before adding in a separate message: "And you won't send it anyway."

Oddly enough, the 'fan' quickly reverted to asking for money again. They wrote: "Lost €5,000 because of your fic (sic). Give it back to me."

After a few hours, the conversation took an even stranger turn when the account followed up by writing: "Please send me three €100 paysafe cards." Smith took to his Facebook page to share the encounter, giving a scathing assessment of the account in question.

He wrote: "Imagine getting blasted on Instagram private messages for shooting these numbers: this is one of about 10 messages (so far)...there will be more.

"Where do people get off messaging players these days...Old days you'd get a smack up the side of the.."
