Kevin De Bruyne has confirmed he has held transfer talks with clubs ahead of his Manchester City exit this summer and refused to rule out a Premier League stay. The 33-year-old failed to wrap up his glittering City career with silverware after Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final.

De Bruyne started in midfield at Wembley but couldn't inspire Pep Guardiola's side to victory, ending his 10-year affiliation with a whimper. After full-time, the Belgian, considered one of the best Premier League midfielders in history, spoke candidly about his plans after the season concludes. And he left the door to a stunning stay in England's top-flight wide open, insisting his decision will be what's best for his family.

He told Sky Sports: "I want to play good football, whatever the decision will be...

"I know you're trying to guess where I'm going to go, but I will make my decision, and you guys will know when I know.

"I don't know [whether I'll stay in the Premier League], it depends on what comes. Like I said to my Belgium colleagues, I have a family.

"I have young kids I have to take care of, it's a decision that has to suit all of us, not just me.

"When I'm 20 years old and all by myself, I can make a decision, that is very easy. But now it's a bit more complex."

De Bruyne, who has made it clear it wasn't his decision to leave City at the end of the campaign, had no problem confirming transfer talks had already taken place.

"Of course. [You can expect to hear a decision] whenever I'm ready to make one. As long as I don't know, I can't tell you anything," the Etihad Stadium legend added.

When asked whether any of those discussions had been shared with any of City's Premier League rivals, De Bruyne responded "maybe".

Earlier this week, Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah cheekily suggested there is space for De Bruyne at Anfield amid speculation surrounding an incredible switch.

Salah said: "I want to tell him congratulations on your career. He's done a phenomenal job at City, and he was great for the league. I really wish him the best... and we have a space for him!"

However, the Egyptian admitted that recruiting De Bruyne would likely go against Liverpool's philosophy.

"I know how they dealt with their players over 30 in the past. I didn't expect I was going to stay. It's not something bad. We see how they dealt with this situation in the past," Salah said.
