Princess Maria Carolina of Bourbon Two Sicilies has revealed that she has been involved in a recently, saying that she is "lucky to be alive". The 21-year-old Italian socialite, who is the daughter of Prince Carlo, Duke of Castro, said she "crashed headfirst into a wall" while riding her motorcycle, which landed her in the Intensive Care Unit in Monaco.
In a new post on her Instagram account, Maria Carolina said she is "incredibly lucky to be alive" and explained how wearing a helmet "saved her life". The Italian royal said that surviving her bike crash was "nothing short of a miracle". She said: "I wanted to share my own experience as I've realized(sic) now more than ever that motorcycles are powerful and thrilling but also unforgiving.
"Please ride with care. Wear full protection, especially a proper helmet. Mine saved my life."
The 21-year-old thanked hospital staff and the first responders for their care and response.
She added: "My deepest thanks to the outstanding team at Centre Hospitalier Princesse Grace for their expert care during those critical days, and to the emergency medical team and first responders on the scene, whose quick and decisive actions in those first moments made all the difference."
Her post included a series of snaps of her wearing a helmet and in hospital.
Maria Carolina followers rushed to the comment section to wish her a speedy recovery.
