Jaipur: A family's pilgrimage turned tragic Wednesday when their car rammed into a truck on the Manoharpur-Dausa highway in Jaipur (Rural), killing three family members and leaving as many seriously injured. The accident took place near the Raisar police station area when a car travelling from Dausa towards the Khatu Shyam Temple collided with a truck that came to a sudden halt.

The deceased were identified as Rahul Kumar (36), his younger brother Parul (32), and their mother Lalita Devi—all residents of Hardoi in Uttar Pradesh. Rahul and Parul were both businessmen. According to officials, the truck, heading from Manoharpura to Dausa, experienced a right-side tyre burst, forcing it to stop abruptly. The speeding car was unable to slam the brake in time and crashed into the rear side of the truck. The impact of the collision was so severe that the car was completely mangled, trapping all six occupants inside. Police said Parul was driving the car at the time of the accident.

Rahul's wife Vidya Devi (29), their four-year-old son, and another family member, Ranjit, sustained serious injuries and are currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital.

Hearing about the crash, locals rushed to the spot upon and helped extract the passengers from the wreckage before alerting the police.

The police said that the family was on a religious trip and planned to offer prayers at the Khatu Shyam Temple. "The preliminary investigation has revealed that the truck's tyre burst and it stopped alongside the road when the car rammed into it," said an official.

The police said that last year locals also met senior officials due to rising incidents of accidents and demanded a divider in the middle of the road, the creation of a service road, the opening of a trauma hospital, the installation of speed breakers at various locations, and a technical inspection of the road to prevent accidents on the Manoharpur Bypass.
