Land hurdles delaying cloverleaf at Ring Road

Jaipur: The construction of cloverleaf connecting the Ring Road with the Ajmer Expressway in Mahapura is getting delayed as the state govt is reportedly not providing land on the corner of the Ajmer-bound flank of the expressway.

Given the handicap, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has decided to construct only the Ring Road-bound section for vehicles coming from the Ajmer side. Although the deadline for this flank of the cloverleaf is July 2025, officials claimed that construction work may be stretched to the end of this year. "The deadline for the construction was March 2026. Yet, we have not received a parcel of land from the state govt located at the corner of the Ajmer Expressway and Ring Road crossing in Mahapura. This would delay the project," a NHAI official disclosed.

Speaking to TOI, Ajay Arya, project director of NHAI, said that the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) is yet to hand over a parcel of private land for the construction of the cloverleaf.

"As far as we know, the process of acquiring the land is ongoing at the govt level, and they are going to hand it over. Until and unless they give us this land, we cannot complete the ramp for the cloverleaf for the Jaipur-bound (200-Feet Bypass Crossing) vehicles coming from the Ring Road," Arya said.

Officials said that if they don't get this land, then Jaipur-bound vehicles on the Ring Road will need to travel around 3 km towards Bagru and take a U-turn from the underpass of the flyover at Mahindra SEZ Road crossing to reach the Jaipur-bound flank.

"This land would also be important for traffic movement in the long run. If NHAI constructs the Northern Ring Road, it would start anywhere between Mahapura and Bagru on the Ajmer Expressway. It means vehicles from the Southern Ring Road need to take a left turn at this junction towards the Ajmer Expressway and then again a left turn towards the Northern Ring Road," stated an official.
