With all the footage of the Chicago Bears going on their no-longer-a-rookie quarterback Caleb Williams , his wish to go to the Minnesota Vikings, and Seth Wickersham of ESPN writing a book about how he wasn’t tutored by the Chicago Bears in his rookie year - there’s this newest head coach in Chicago, who is just happy.
Happy about being the head coach for the Chicago Bears - yes. But he is also happy about the Chicago Bears having an early bye week!
This serves as a perfect example: while you’re busy discussing your mountain sorrows, there’s someone out there who’s happy about the single grain he found in his basket!
Long story short, HC Ben Johnson talks about being happy with an early bye week in the 2025 Chicago Bears Schedule with Pro Football Talk. Let’s hear him out.

Ben Johnson talks about how an early bye week gives his team, the Chicago Bears, enough time to think about the pros and cons of the team. Johnson shared,
“I actually like where that bye week is, because it usually takes about four weeks into the season to find out who you are as a team, what you do well, what you don’t do well, and that’s a good time so we can reflect on that as a coaching staff.
So we can home in on what we want to be for the remaining three-quarters of the season. It can take up to half the season before they really start to mesh and come together.”

A bye week is a time to rejuvenate, strategize, and improve subsequent games. An early bye week means the rest period comes in the first half of the regular season. That means they will rest before the big games even begin. And, when the big games are actually on, they won’t have a bye week or a resting period.
Most coaches want their players to rest when it matters the most. Don’t big games matter the most? How can Ben Johnson be happy about an early bye week for the Chicago Bears? Most coaches want a bye week in the later part of the regular season when the chase for the Super Bowl really begins with helmets and gears!
Anyway, if the coach is happy, his team is happy! With this, their regular season record for 2024 of 5 wins and 12 losses will finally be rectified!
