Manchester City chairman reveals tribute plans for midfielder Kevin De Bruyne

Manchester City's chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has revealed a lasting tribute to Kevin De Bruyne amid the Belgian's impending departure at the end of a glorious 10 years at the club. A breathtaking mosaic and a Kevin De Bruyne Crescent have been unveiled at the City Football Academy in recognition of the Belgian midfielder's extraordinary impact in sky blue. The ceremony will see the club waving goodbye to one of its all-time greats, with fans, staff, and even teammates posting messages of thanks to De Bruyne and his impact on and off the pitch.
A lasting tribute to a Manchester City legend, Kevin De BruyneThe mural, completed by Manchester artist and lifelong City fan Mark Kennedy, depicts De Bruyne in his familiar celebratory stance. It goes at the door of the City Football Academy and represents the high bar De Bruyne set at the club.


The road will be called Kevin De Bruyne Crescent and part of the training complex as a constant reminder of his heroics in the heart of the Manchester City training ground. At the unveiling, Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak praised Kevin De Bruyne as an exceptional talent and emphasized that his legacy would be remembered as one of the most significant in the club’s history. He highlighted De Bruyne’s unique contributions over the past decade, referring to him as a player whose impact will remain deeply ingrained in Manchester City’s story for generations to come.

Celebrating a decade of the historic success of Kevin De BruyneThe Belgium international has featured for Manchester City 420 times since moving from German side Wolfsburg in 2015, netting on 108 occasions and assisting many others. De Bruyne, 33, is already City’s most successful-ever captain. His biggest accolade so far is 2023 UEFA Champions League glory, as well as six Premier League titles, five League Cups, and two FA Cups. He was also involved in the club’s UEFA Super Cup and soccer World Cup triumph to open and close a glistening era.

De Bruyne was more than simply a stat machine. A strong and talented playmaker, he was quick, intelligent, and a versatile player, who was able to play as a full midfielder, a footballer with leadership, and he was considered a leader on the field. Twice the Premier League player of the season, he was central to City’s rise under Pep Guardiola, directing play with a vision and a precision that few could match.
